Wangari Maathai, 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder of the Green Belt Movement, strived to reforest her country by paying women to plant trees. She was a true environmentalist, feminist, politician, professor, and a courageous human rights activist.
On Sunday, September 20, 2015 we will host a concert and festival that celebrates the remarkable legacy of Wangari Maathai, raises awareness about the prevalence of GMOs in our food system, and gives away free seeds to the people! This special event will include live music, world class artwork, interpretive dancing, and even nonviolent direct action for those who are willing.
